Wilkes was approached by a local couple in August 2012 as they needed help with an on going problem that they were getting frustrated with; their front garden was surrounded by 30ft tall Leylandii Trees (leylandii.com) They had re-laid the grass below them on four occasions, but the trees sucked all the water from the ground, and with the help of the foxes this left the grass with brown patchy areas and looking very sad and unkempt.

The couple had looked into different options, deciding that artificial grass was too expensive and paving the whole area was not the image that they had in mind for their front garden.

They turned to M B Wilkes for help, advice and to discuss their options. With the help of Mr Bill Wales, of General Builder & Maintenance & Mike Palmer a local garden designer, they were offered various options.

The project started with the stripping up of the patchy lawn & the excavation of the area which was taken away using the M B Wilkes (muck away service) the area was then filled with (type 1 sub-base) as a sub-base which was rolled & compacted, then covered with teram to help control the weeds. The flower beds were then dressed, using (blue slate) (1 dumpy bag was used in this project), (flamingo pebbles) (4 dumpy bags were used in this project) and also a mixture of (rainbow boulders) & (rainbow cobbles) (1 dumpy bag was used in this project).

The plants were sourced from various local companies and planted by Mike Palmer.
As you can see the project was a success and has rejuvenated the front garden, leaving it virtually maintenance free

The project was completed within the timescale required and within budget, the couple are very happy with the outcome.

M B Wilkes provided all the materials used in the project.
